本年度も教育実践に関する活動には制約があったため、基本的な理論研究に重心をややずらした。自然に対する人間の関わりを〈暴力〉という観点から捉え、〈暴力の意味〉と教育の役割について検討した。〈暴力〉に着目するのは、自然保護は必ずしも開発や殺傷を避けるという意味での保護だけでなく、殺傷など「避けられない暴力」があるためである。ただし戦争のような暴力（殺すための暴力）と、自然に対する暴力（生きるための暴力）がどのように異なるのかを、暴力の意味論として考察した。手がかりとした理論や思想は、バタイユやカミュ、レヴィナス、日本の思想などで、本年度はとくにカミュと九鬼周造の「ためらい」や「いき」に着目した。こうした中庸的な感性は、暴力（他者を支配すること）の是非を判断する手前で、それを認識しつつも拒否するあり方、ないし感性であると結論づけた。ただ、暴力の「ためらい」や「いき」が伝統的な倫理学にどのように位置づけられるのか、たとえば経験か生得的かといった点は十分に明らかにすることはできなかった。一方で、「ためらい」の中庸性が暴力に対峙する態度となるためには、日常生活や身体といった、他者性を経験する実践的基礎が不可欠であると指摘した。以上を倫理の教育論と接続させるならば、倫理学は自由や公正もしくは功利などの理論的検討から整然とした解答を導くに留めることなく、倫理学的正しさ・善さそのものを批判的に捉える「ためらい」の感性を、身体的次元から理論的に検討し、倫理学のうちに意義付けてゆく必要があると考えられた。以上の主張の根拠でもあり、倫理的涵養の実践でもあるフィールドスクール（獣害問題や獣害対策の実情を学び、野生動物の捕獲や解体、利活用についての総合的な実習を行う）を本年度も実施した。今後も「自身の暴力へのためらい」について考え・感じることのできるものとなるよう、引き続き実施してゆく。
