ソルフェージュは音楽の基礎的な教育であるが、日本では近年、音楽を専攻する学生におけるこの基本的なソルフェージュ能力が低下していることが、問題になってきている。その原因のひとつには、学生の能力に即した適切な教材の不足、また教育者の指導力の欠如や教育方法の偏りにもあるのではないかと考えられる。そのため、従来の「聴音」「新曲」「コールユーブンゲン」に代表される日本のソルフェージュの旧態依然とした音楽教育指導を払拭する必要があった。まず入門段階として、小学生を対象としたイラストやあみだくじ等を利用した分かり易い方法で、初心者に和音、音程、楽語など音符以外の音楽理論の一端を理解させるため、よく知られている「ブルクミュラー25の練習曲」を用いたドリルのテクストを、親しみやすく書き著すことに策をこらした。実際に小学生にピアノを教えている現場の先生方の経験やアドバイスを得て、机上の理論にならないよう、工夫をしている。ソルフェージュの本場フランスでは、このような入門者、初心者を対象としたテクストが数多く出版されており、それぞれに工夫がなされている。フランスでは、従来の「ソルフェージュ」という考えは現在使われておらず、広い視点から音楽作品を捉えていく、という考え方「フォルマシオン・ミュジカル」が一般的である。この教育事例を、フランスで調査する予定を立てていたが、新型コロナウイルス禍とウクライナ問題という全く予想外の社会情勢の変化で、研究方法を変更せざるを得なかった。しかし、対象を小学生からという年齢層に幅を広げることにより、かえって今後の研究が実施しやすくなったと考えることもできる。と言うのは、音楽高校、音楽大学等の学生は、既に枠にはまった教育を受けており、柔軟性に乏しいからである。今後は、幅広い年齢層を考慮した音楽基礎訓練を研究対象として実績を積んでいく計画である。
