近世天文暦学者の研究活動の基礎である書物の利用について、また利用で得た知識の天体観測への応用について、2022年度は、①18世紀中ごろの幕府の天文暦学研究に重要な位置を占めた『西洋暦経』の調査、②18世紀後半に製作された天文観測機器への西洋天文学の影響、の2点を中心に調査と分析を進めた。①は、不明な点が多かった『西洋暦経』に関する調査である。この書物は幕府天文方の資料や書物奉行の執務日誌「書物方日記」などにその名が見られ、紅葉山文庫に収められていることは確認できるものの、詳細が不明であったが、その原本を発見し、全120冊の構成を明らかにすることができた。また、いくつかの写本も発見し、これに伴って『西洋暦経』の伝播とその影響を知る手掛かりが得られた。なお、本調査の結果は、前年度に行った天文方の紅葉山文庫本の利用実態の調査結果と併せて発表を３件行った。②は、18世紀前半から輸入され始めたイエズス会士系天文暦学書(漢訳西洋天文書)の影響が、天文観測分野にどのように及んだかを知るための調査で、前年度からの継続調査である。その結果、幕府が18世紀前半に製作した観測機器である簡天儀と測午表には、360度の西洋式の角度が刻まれていた事を見出した。その一方で、天文方の理論研究での西洋度の導入は遅れ、明和年間に行われた修正宝暦暦作成においては、西洋度で得た観測データを、365.25度の中国式の角度に置き換えている様子も見出した。これにより、18世紀前半から流入した西洋天文学の知識が、基礎概念として研究者たちに定着する過程の一端を窺うことができる。なお、本調査の結果は、2023年度に学会発表を行う予定で準備を進めている。

The foundation of the research activities of modern astronomers is the utilization of books and objects, the utilization of knowledge and the use of celestial surveying, the year 2022, the important position of astronomical research in the middle of the 18th century, the investigation of "Western astronomy", the influence of astronomical surveying machines in the second half of the 18th century, and the progress of two central investigations and analysis. (2) In the first half of the 18th century, the influence of astronomical books (Western astronomical books of the Han Dynasty) on astronomical survey was investigated in the previous year. As a result, the shogunate produced a measuring machine in the first half of the 18th century. In the theoretical study of astronomical and astronomical methods, the introduction of western degrees was carried out in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and the correction was carried out in the China formula. The first half of the 18th century saw an influx of knowledge, fundamental concepts, and research into Western astronomy. The results of this survey indicate that the Institute's schedule for 2023 will be finalized and preparations will be made.
