本研究は，第一次世界大戦前後のバレエ・リュスと映画の動向に焦点をあて，前衛的な作品が出現し，新しい芸術の潮流が形成されていく過程を明確にすることを目的としている．これまでバレエ・リュスと前衛文学・芸術の関係性が指摘されるに留まり，基礎的資料に基づいた分析や理論的な考察が行われてこなかった．本研究はこの欠落を補うものであり，映画が新たな芸術として台頭する時期において，バレエの変容や発展がこの新しい芸術にいかなる影響を与えたのかについて，基礎的資料の整備を行い，大戦前後の芸術をめぐる現象，理論を分析し，相互の影響関係を明らかにすることにより実証的に解明し，「エスプリ・ヌーヴォー」の諸相を明確にすることを目指すものである．本年度は，初年度に十分には進捗しなかった20 世紀初頭の映画とバレエに関する諸言説に関する資料収集を可能な範囲で継続し，基礎的資料としてのデータベースの作成とアップデートを行った．フランス国立図書館や，デジタル・アーカイブ等で収集した文献資料の分析作業を同時並行で行い，当時の文学・芸術批評におけるバレエに関する言説について，できる限り同定し，その事績・業績の精査作業を開始した．これまで等閑視されてきたギヨーム・アポリネールの芸術批評にみられる舞踏，バレエ・リュスに関する言説の分析，検討を重点的に行った．当該期間の映画を映画史上に位置づける作業として，20 世紀フランスにおける映画批評に関する理論的研究にも着手し，理論的側面からの検討を実施した．
