项目摘要

19世紀から20世紀中葉に至る中欧の様々な民族主義の勃興と成熟の状況の中で、民族の一員となることを期したディアスポラ集団が持つ新聞が、「民族」概念の形成機関であったことが注目され始めている。新聞は民族の紐帯となる象徴的な文学者とその文学を「国民詩人」・「国民文学」として大衆に理解されやすい形で抜粋して示し、様々な民族祭等の行事をからめて主導的に予告・報道してディアスポラ集団を誘導してきた。単に民族を謳い上げた文学が存在するだけではなく、それを大衆に媒介し、民族そのものの像を植え付けるための最も有効な装置として、新聞・雑誌という活字媒体が大きく機能していた状況が次第に明らかになりつつある。例えば国民詩人を謳いながら新聞が伝える民族祭において、新聞が属する祝う側は、たとえば詩や散文の訴求力を利用しつつ、実はその背後にいて新聞を武器とする存在―例えばドイツ語圏の場合、国家ではなく、連帯した「教養市民層」―自身とともに、彼らが作品そのものの扱いを操作することで成立した民族観念を祝ったのであり、それがそのままディアスポラ集団に共有されるという現象の理解が、我々の研究の結果進んできた。各研究者が対象とするディアスポラの新聞を実際に掘り起こし、上記のようなそのディアスポラ・アイデンティティとその民族観の形成機を、文学における受容理論等を援用しながら詳細に明らかにするのが本研究であり、当該地域における実地調査・研究を骨子としているが、COVID19関係の事情により、研究の遂行のための現地調査が遅れていた。佐藤は1度現地調査ができたが、鈴木と藤田は、2021年度終了予定ながら1年延長したプロジェクトを優先せざるを得ず、本プロジェクトの調査は本年度にずれ込まざるを得ない。ただし我々はすでに2本の研究を雑誌発表している。
