项目摘要

本研究は以下の3点を明らかにすることを目指している。すなわち、（１）フランスの小説家エミール・ゾラが作曲家アルフレッド・ブリュノーに提示したオペラ制作のための美学の特徴、（２）ゾラのオペラ美学のブリュノーの受け止めとオペラ制作への反映、（３）ゾラのオペラ共作の経験がゾラの文学にもたらした文学的な創造性である。2021年度の研究は、これらの考察を実行するための基礎的な資料の収集が中心となったが、2022年度の研究では、前年度の研究の成果を発展させる形で、研究代表者および研究分担者がそれぞれ研究を行なった。研究代表者は、オペラ共作当時の象徴主義的傾向の高まりという世界文学的な文脈の中で、文学創造を音楽と関連づけることにどのような意味があったのかを明らかにした。その上で、ゾラの音楽への接近は、文学に音楽的な象徴性を付与しようとする意図と無縁ではないが、ゾラの考える音楽的象徴性とは、演劇的な理解を助けるためのもので、難解な暗示性を最大限発揮させるためのものではないことを示した。一方、音楽学を専門とする研究分担者は、シャルル・グノーの未発表の散文オペラ《ジョルジュ・ダンダン》の序文を考察することで、ゾラとブリュノーの散文オペラを音楽史的により広い文脈の中に位置付け得るという可能性を示した。他方、ゾラ研究を専門とする研究分担者は、ゾラとブリュノーの散文オペラの代表作《メシドール》の中のバレエを「紋中紋」というコンセプトから再検討し、研究代表者の先行論を発展的に継承した論点を提示した。以上の研究成果は、2023年1月に青山学院大学で開催されたシンポジウム「文学と音楽のポリフォニー：近現代のフランスオペラをめぐって」において口頭で報告され、その発表の概要が報告書『文学と音楽のポリフォニー：近現代のフランスオペラをめぐって』において公表された。
