令和4年度は、宮城県図書館へ2回出向き、同館に所蔵、および開架されている古和書のうち、近世に作成された旅行の日記・紀行である道中記と呼ばれる資料を対象に、資料の発掘調査、資料の閲覧と複写、および方言的特徴記載の有無の確認といった作業を行った。まず、宮城県図書館所蔵に所蔵されている『下り道中日記帳』（自筆本）、『江戸より仙台迄道中案内』（写本）、『道中記』（写本）、『道中記』（写本）といった4種の資料を閲覧し、これらの資料に見られる方言的特徴の有無について確認作業を行った。しかし、これらの資料からは方言的特徴を見出すことができなかった。次に、宮城県図書館のホームページ内にある「宮城県図書館叡智の杜Web」という電子図書館のデータベースの一つである「宮城県図書館古典籍類所蔵資料」において原本画像が閲覧できる近世後期に作成された『金毘羅道中記』と宮城県図書館に開架されている近世中期に作成された『伊勢参宮所々名所並道法道中記』を対象に調査を行った。その結果、これらの資料には、「語中・尾におけるイとエの混同」、「シ・ヂ・チとス・ズ・ツの混同」、「語中・尾におけるカ行・タ行子音の有声化」、「カ行・ガ行の合拗音」といった音声の方言的特徴が表記上に反映されている用例を確認することができた。すなわち、近世中・後期において資料作成地で使用していた音声の方言的特徴が得られた2つの資料は、資料が作成された当時の使用状況を知るための有効な地方語文献資料となり得る可能性が高いと言える。現在は、得られた用例の分析、および考察の結果をまとめ、論文を執筆しているところである。
