项目摘要

本研究では定形関係節と縮約関係節の統語構造を研究することで構成素のラベル決定の仕組みの解明とMERGE理論の深化を目標とする。2022年度前半は非制限関係節の内部構造の解明のための基礎研究を行った。具体的には(1)主要文献の精読、(2)統語特性の記述の二点の作業に従事した。(1)について、Jackendoff (1977)を精読することで非制限関係節の基本特性を理解した。また、非制限関係節が先行詞と構成素をなすことの利点と問題点を整理した。また、Emonds (1979)の精読から非制限関係節の派生について理解を深めた。(2)について、非制限関係節は主文から統語的に不可視であることが分かった。2022年度後半は理論研究を行った。Chomsky (2019)とChomsky, Gallego, and Ott (2019)を精読し、MERGE理論について理解を深めた。MERGE理論では平行併合(Parallel Merge)と横方向移動(Sideward Movement)が認められないが、それは集合併合(Set-Merge)においてであることを確認し、その上で対併合(Pair-Merge)の場合に平行併合が可能であるかについて理論的検討を行った。その結果、平行併合は対併合の場合にのみ有効であると考え、それが文法操作から完全に破棄されることはないとした。ここまでの研究活動の成果を第15回北海道理論言語学研究会で研究発表した。本発表では非制限関係節は先行詞と平行併合し、主文とは独立に根文を形成すると主張した。これにより制限関係節と非制限関係節の統語的相違点に原理的説明を与えた。
