项目摘要

先の17K02820の課題研究で, 我々は21世紀現在時制小説と、20世紀過去時制小説の2つのコーパスを作成し、その数量的質的比較を試みた。ここでの問題点は語りの時制だけでなく、英語そのものの年代に多少のずれがあるため、コーパス間の差異は語りの時制によるものか、英語の時間的変化によるものか明確でなかったことである。現課題においてはその問題を解決すべく、2000年以降に出版された過去時制小説を集めて新たにコーパス化し、先の研究課題で作成した、2000～2016年に出版された現在時制小説のコーパスとの間の変数を時制のみに絞った状態で、数量的・質的比較することを目指した。しかしながら、現在時制小説が近年ますます多様化し、既存の現在時制コーパスと新コーパスの比較分析だけでは、現在時制小説の文体的特徴を把握しきれないという判断に至った。既存の現在時制小説のコーパスでは現在時制小説を、純文学、大衆文学に分け、さらにその中を1人称語り、3人称語りと分類していたが、近年純文学、大衆文学の境界が必ずしも明確でなくなりつつある。また、語りにおいても現在時制で、2人称語りが新たに台頭しつつあり、従来の分類枠では収まらない状態である。この分類方法を維持したまま、新たな過去時制小説のコーパスと比較しても、現在時制の新たな様相は旧コーパスには含まれず、現在時制の特徴が十分に解明されることは期待できない。よって最新の現在時制小説について質的な分析を行う方向にに切り替えている。まずは現在時制小説の最新の動向を探り、各々の作品における語り手の視点やモードが顕著に反映される言語形式（話法、知覚描写、ダイクシス表現）に着目し、分析を進めた。また現在時制小説の最新動向を把握する作業と同時に、これまでの数量的、質的な分析を総括し、研究成果を出版する準備を進め、現在出版社に原稿を提出したところである。
