项目摘要

第二言語学習者における母語と第二言語の処理の関係性解明に向け、コンピュータをベースとした音声反応形式のストループテストを開発し、これまで日本と台湾で第二言語学習者を対象に実験を行ってきた。先行研究に見られた矛盾点を克服する代案としての統合モデルを提案する成果も得られたが、台湾での共同研究を進めていく中で、比較の等質性をめぐり、より精緻な実験を行うためには台湾における母語と書記体系の文化的な背景について考慮する必要があるという認識に至った。そこで、本研究では等質性の観点から中国語母語話者に提示する刺激を見直し、第二言語についても日本語母語話者と中国語母語話者の両方で英語に統一して、同じ習熟度テストを実施する。本研究の目的は、より等質性を重視した精緻な形での比較・検証によって、上述の統合モデルの適用可能性についてのさらなる支持証拠を示すことにある。２年目である本年度においても新型コロナウィルス感染拡大の影響は深刻であり、研究の進捗についても大幅な遅れが生じている。本年度も一度も台湾に訪れることができず、現地での実験を行うことができずにいる。そうした中、日本国内での実験については、感染予防措置を講じながら何とか予定の実験参加者を確保することができた。また、本年度は学会がオンライン開催であったため、台湾の研究協力者にも現地からオンラインで入ってもらいながら先述の日本での実験結果を踏まえた研究の中間報告を発表することができた。しかしながら、その後も、渡航制限についての状況は改善されず、結局、台湾での実験開始の目途がつかないまま、本年度は成果を論文にまとめて発表するところまでには至らなかった。
