本研究では、多読におけるタスク起因の関与負荷（Involvement Load Hypothesis; ILH; Laufer & Hulstijn, 2001）、特にSearchとEvaluationが、EFL学習者が知覚する語彙ネットワークの変化に及ぼす影響について実験的調査を行い、検討した。95人の日本人大学生を、Search(+/-)とEvaluation(+/-)の掛け算で4つのグループに分け、すべてのグループに同じリーディング教材（15個のターゲット単語を含む306語の英文）が与えられたが、タスクは異なるものであった。評価(+)のグループには、その英文を部分的に翻訳するタスクが割り当てられた。評価(-)グループには、その内容に関する多肢選択式の問題が出された。検索(+)グループには辞書の使用が許可され、検索(-)グループには辞書の使用が許可されなかった。参加者は、タスクの1週間前、タスクの直後、タスクの3週間後の3回、対象語間の関係性を判定した。その結果、タスクを伴う多読そのものの学習効果は確認されたものの、4群間の関与度指数(involvement index)の差は対象語間の関係性には影響しないことがわかった。また、3回のテストを通して参加者の語彙ネットワークがどのように変化したかを示すため、データ可視化プラットフォームであるGephiを用いてデータを分析・可視化した。その結果、個人のネットワーク変化の質的特徴が明らかになり、集団データだけでなく個人差を調べることの重要性が示された。今回の結果は、既知語の語彙ネットワーク変化に対してタスク起因の関与負荷が働かないのか、あるいはNeed、Search、Evaluation以外の関与成分が考慮されるべきなのか、という新たな研究課題を提起した。以上の研究成果は第3回東南アジア教育学会にて発表された。

This study investigated the Involvement Load Hypothesis (ILH; Laufer & Hulstijn, 2001), Search and Evaluation, and EFL learners 'knowledge of word generation and transformation. 95 Japanese college students, Search(+/-) and Evaluation(+/-), 4 categories of students, 15 categories of students, including 306 English languages, are different from each other.
