本課題では、地図を電子化し、オープンアクセスな情報資源としてウェブサイト上で公開することを予定しており、既存のアジア経済研究所図書館地図ウェブ目録との連携も目指している。2022年度は、（１）デジタル化のための仕様書（案）をほぼ完成させた。解像度については、地図の縮尺や地図の種類にもよるが、なるべく高い方が将来的にも利用に耐えると思われる。ただし解像度が高くなるとデジタル化の費用も上がるため、400dpiと600dpiの2種類で試験的にデジタル化を行った上で、最終決定することにした。（２）ウェブサイト上での情報発信の在り方や、図書館の地図ウェブ目録との連携、システム面からの持続可能性なども含めた検討を十分に行うため、アジ研図書館のシステムライブラリアンが研究分担者として新たに加わった。システムライブラリアンとともに、アジ研図書館の地図目録へのデジタル化地図の搭載の検討に加えて、外部デジタルアーカイブプラットフォームとの連携などを検討した。具体的には、日本のデジタルアーカイブを横断検索可能なプラットフォームで国会図書館が運用する「ジャパンサーチ」（https://jpsearch.go.jp/）と、世界各国の図書館や博物館が参加するOld Maps Online（https://www.oldmapsonline.org/）が連携先の候補として挙がり、そうした外部プラットフォームとの連携を念頭に置き、メタデータを設定することにした。またIIIFやダブリンコア準拠のメタデータ作成も視野に入れて進めることにした。（３）資料のデジタル化と公開に関する国内外のオンライン講演会を通した情報収集や、他館の事例についての調査、レバノン地図に関する資料収集を継続的に進めた。
