项目摘要

本研究は土佐藩大名山内家大名墓の墓石の産地同定とその社会的背景を評価することにある。15代藩主山内豊信の墓碑は東京都品川区大井公園のそばにあり、墓石は全体として青味がかった色を呈しており、石英脈がランダムに発達している。さらに、穿孔貝によるとみられる直径1cmほどの円形の穴が数カ所確認できた。本墓碑の石材の特徴を定量化するために、岩石磁化率、色測定による非破壊分析を実施した。また、墓石の石材産地のヒントとなる情報を得るために同時代に同地域で造園された清澄庭園の庭石に着目して、非破壊分析を実施した。清澄庭園には全国各地から収集された庭石が存在するが、豊信の墓石と外観が同じ特徴を示す岩石として紀州青石、秩父青石、伊予青石が挙げられる。この三種類の青石は見た目のく別はほとんど付かなかったが、豊信墓碑の岩石磁化率は伊予青石と類似していることががわかった。全国に流通している愛媛県内の伊予青石は西条、大洲、八幡浜、佐田岬を原産地とする。そこで、本研究ではこれらの地域に建立する石碑や採石された石材について調査を実施した。いずれの青石も類似した磁化率を示し、地域ごとの大きな違いは認められなかった。一方、沿岸部で採石された痕跡と考えられる穿孔貝の巣穴痕は、佐多岬地区で建立する顕彰碑と海岸の転石にのみ確認された。以上の結果を勘案すると、山内豊信の墓標に使用された青石は佐多岬産の伊予青石（三波川帯緑色泥岩）だと考えられる。
