2022年度は，地方都市近郊農村における「安定兼業」の変容に注目し，大分市郊外の集落を対象に，家の継承の変容と，その地域の社会経済へのインパクトを分析する研究を中心に調査を進めた。安定兼業とは，農外就業先で世帯としての必要所得を確保しつつ，零細に水田農業を営むという，日本の多くの農山村に卓越していたある種の生活様式である。安定兼業は高度経済成長期以降，地方の農山村でも農外就業機会が拡大し，農業の機械化による省力化が進むともに，急速に進展した。これは先祖代々の土地で子が家業や家産を継承するといったイエ規範に支えられたものでもあった。安定兼業では，親世代は主に農業に従事し，子世代は農外就業に就きつつ休日や終業後にこれを手伝い，世帯としての必要所得を得つつ農地が守られていた。また，三世代同居により新しく住宅を求める必要もなく，大きな可処分所得が得られた。しかし，こうした家業・家産・世帯員の再生産のありようは，近年大きく変化している。当該集落では，2世代で住む家は消滅していたが，分家住宅の特例を背景に，子世代夫婦には通勤・子育てに好適な居住地として世帯が再生産されている。農業はほとんどが継承されていないが，子世代の居住環境の範囲では草刈りなどにより農地が保全されている。こうした子世代の行動には家継承をめぐる規範意識は希薄であり，規範から離れた子世代の就業・居住の論理が，地方都市と後背農村の空間・社会を作り替えていることが看取された。
