本研究の目的は、東インド会社が設立した東インド・カレッジを取り巻く知的ネットワークを紐解きながら、マルサスとインドとの関係性を明らかにすることである。2020年に発行されたThe Historical Journal （vol.63 (1) ）では、「マルサスの特集号」が掲載された。この号では、国際的に著名なマルサス研究者たちが著した計8本の論文が掲載されている。こうした研究状況の中で、マルサスとインドとの関係に焦点を当てている本研究は、近年の国際的な学術誌にも見られるように、重要度が高くトピックの研究であるといえる。「現在までの進捗状況」の中で記した通り、2022年度では、マルサスと東インドに関わる諸文献を読み込みながら、本研究の基礎を固めていく作業を行った。しかし、コロナ問題により、一次資料を収集するための文献調査を十分に行うことができなかったことは認められなければならない。それでもそうした制約の中で、国内で入手可能な文献を地道に集め続けることができた。本科研費の直接のテーマと関わらないわけではないが、2022年度では、2022年７月に、日本大学（ハイブリッド）で開催された「愉楽と経済学者たち」の研究会において、「デュガルド・スチュアートにおける「愉楽の標準」」について研究報告を行った。その研究会において、研究会の参加者の中から有益な意見を賜った。そのほかに、論文「デュガルド・スチュアートにおける「国富」とは何かをめぐって――『政治経済学講義』第２編第１章「ノートからの転載」を中心に」、『南山経済研究』37(3)、pp.225-244、2023年3月．を発行した。2023年度では、本研究をさらに発展させることができるよう努めたい。
