本研究は，気候変動に由来する経済的被害が資産価格や経済厚生にどのような影響を与えるのか？また，現実の金融市場において，投資家は気候変動に関するリスクをどのように認識しているのか？について分析する．本研究では，気候変動リスクをある種のレア・ディザスター（Rare disasters, 以下では大惨事と表記）と捉え，大惨事リスクを考慮した資産価格モデルを用いる．従来の大惨事リスクと異なる点は，気候変動は経済活動によって内生的に生じる点と，その経済的な被害の規模について非常に大きな不確実性があり主観的な確率評価が資産価格決定に重要な役割を果たすことにある。これまでに気候変動に対して悪影響を与えるセクター（ブラウンセクター）と、中立的なセクター（グリーンセクター）の二部門からなる確率成長モデルを構築した。そして、以下の2点を分析した。第１に、気候変動政策を実際するために政府が財政赤字を発行した場合の資金調達条件と公債発行額との関係を明らかにした。具体的には、上記の経済における国債価格、特に短期国債と長期国債の間の利子率の差である期間プレミアムを導出した。そして、その期間プレミアムの大きさを前提に、政府が財政赤字を維持するためにはどのような満期の債権を発行し、どのような満期の債権を購入するかという政府の財政行動を特徴づけた。第２に、大惨事の発生確率が変化する環境における望ましい炭素税と気候変動対策政府支出の組み合わせについて最適課税理論の枠組みで分析した。
