わが国長寿企業の内部統制に関する大阪および函館における現地調査ならびにインタビューの結果から以下の知見（長寿企業の秘訣・傾向）が得られた。すなわち、①経営理念に関しては、社会貢献を基にした経営理念を有していること、②ガバナンスに関しては、社是・社訓などにより固有の価値観・信念が醸成され、それが継承されていく中で、各社のカルチャーや統制環境そのものとなり、良好な内部統制の基盤を形成するとともに、経営者の経営判断の拠り所にもなっていること、社長の暴走を止める仕組みがあること、後継者としての次世代経営者育成を重視していること、 ③事業経営のあり方（ERMの視点から）に関しては、堅実さ、正確さを重視する文化があること、本業重視の事業展開と事業ポートフォリオやリスクテイクの姿勢を貫いていること、 実現可能性を重視した事業計画が策定されていること、④内部統制に関しては、経営目標を実現するための内部統制が整備・運用されていること、である。インタビュー調査の項目は、基本的にはCOSOのERMフレームワークに沿って作成したものであるが、各社の長年にわたる活動は、意識せずともCOSOのフレームワークに沿ったものとなっており、長寿企業がこれらのソフトローやベストプラクティスを先取りしていたという点も貴重な研究成果であった。なお、これらに関連して、COSOが最近公表した5つの報告書（人工知能の可能性を最大限に発揮する、クラウドコンピューティングのためのERM、ブロックチェーンと内部統制、デジタル時代のサイバーリスクマネジメント、コンプライアンスリスクマネジメント）についての邦訳版の監訳を行い、COSOのホームページなどに掲載した。

The following findings were obtained from field surveys conducted in Osaka and Hakodate concerning the internal control of long-lived enterprises (secrets of long-lived enterprises).
