项目摘要

保護者に宛てて教師が発行する学級通信には、保護者の意識変容を促し、学校参加の条件を形成するという可能性がある。しかし、そもそも教師にとって学級通信の発行が困難になっていると指摘されて久しい。そうした現状をふまえ、当該年度の研究では、ある初任期教師に対するインタビュー調査から下記の点を探り、学級通信実践の今日的意義を追求した。すなわち、（1）対象とする初任期教師が学級通信を発行する意図や契機など当該教師の教育実践における学級通信の位置づけ、（2）職場の環境や発行のための時間のやりくりなど当該教師の学級通信発行をめぐる状況、（3）保護者との関わりにおいて当該教師が認識する学級通信の意義、（4）当該教師が直面している課題、である。当該教師が直面している課題とは、第1に、担任する学級に外国にルーツをもつ子どもが複数在籍しており、その保護者たちが日本語の読みに困難を抱えている（日本語の学級通信を読むことが困難である）という点であり、第2に、特別支援学級に在籍する子どもが、当該教師の担任する学級と、特別支援学級とを時間によって行き来しており、学級の子どもたち全員が同じ活動をしていない時間が一定程度存在するという点である。これらは、公教育としての学校教育が今日直面している課題とも重なっている。研究を通じて、これらの課題も捉えつつ保護者に向けて学級通信を発行し続けていくという当該教師の教育実践が、今日における公教育の意義を追求するものとして成立していることを明らかにした。
