项目摘要

本研究の目的は，自由保育論が主要に展開された『保育専科』と『保育の手帖』を対象とし，自由保育論の受容過程を自由保育をめざす「運動」として捉え直し，1964年から1989年の期間における自由保育の受容過程を実証的に検討することである。令和4年度には，1964年度以降に『保育の手帖』において三木安正が指導した保育内容研究会の議論を検討することで，自由保育的発想への三木らの議論の影響を検討した。保育内容研究会の議論は，保育問題研究会の集団主義的立場をもちながらも，完全な内部団体でないこともあり自由保育への萌芽となる発想を内包していた。まず，民主的な社会を作ることを重視し，それを歪ませることに繋がる領域を教科的に扱う発想に反対していたこと，子どもの能力を数量的に把握する評価ではなく，指導まで含めたプロセスの中で子どもを評価する発想を行っていた点などは，現代まで続く保育の発想の基盤となるものである。次に，集団を重視し，計画的な指導で望ましい集団を作るという保育内容研究会の採用する立場に関しては，会員内部でも強い緊張関係が存在していたこと，及び個人が集団との関係抜きには存在し得ないことを前提とするものの，個別の実践に関する議論を通じて望ましい姿を直接に求めることよりも，個人の一見問題に見える姿に子ども側のそうせざるを得ない気持ちを読み取り，子どもたちが適切な時期に自然に発達していく面を認める形に緩やかに変化していったことが指摘できる。三木に関しては，この変容がはっきりと表れるのは後に連載された問題児の研究以降ではあったが，三木の問題児に対する見方を培ったのは，保育内容研究会での個別の実践についての討議であったといえる。同様に，集団主義の中心的な論者でもあった畑谷も，保育内容研究会での議論を経て計画的に望ましい集団に早期に近づけていくという発想の修正を迫られていた。
