本研究の目的は、大学の理系の研究室での経験がいかに研究者アイデンティティ形成につながるかを明らかにすることである。筆者が先に実施した研究により、理系研究者を目指して大学に進学したものの、 研究室での研究活動を経て、研究職を断念する学生も少なからず存在することが示唆された。これまで科学教育の分野では、主に海外の研究により「理数科目コンピテンシー」や「他者による承認」 が生徒の科学アイデンティティを予測しうることが明らかとなって いる。しかし、そのほぼすべての研究が、中等教育あるいは大学の学生実験を対象としてきた。そのため、大学の理系研究室での経験が、いかに研究者アイデン ティティ形成につながるかは明らかでない。そこで本研究では、研究室における研究活動の中で、研究者アイデンティティがいかに確立されるのか、その形成プ ロセスを明らかにする。 具体的には、理系研究室に所属する学生を対象とし、研究職を目指す学生と断念した学生双方に半構造化インタビューを行う。質的データ解析では、1. 研究を遂行する能力への信念と、2. 実践的コミュニティ概念に基づく正統的周辺参加を解析の視点として用いることで、研究者アイデンティ ティ確立に結びつく要因を多角的に解析する。最終的には中等教育の理科教育やキャリア支援に導入すべき有用な知見を得ることを目指す。以上を目的とし、理系学部に所属する大学生に半構造化インタビューを実施し、その記録を質的手法により解析している。研究2年目の2022年は、本研究で予定していた32名全員の学生へのインタビューを完了させた。
