他者の認知や印象形成にかかわる情報（知識や記憶）がどのように符号化され体制化されているか（人物表象）に関しては、これまでにも多くの研究がすすめられ、いくつかの代表的なモデルが提案されてきた。しかしながら、1980年代中ごろからはやや停滞していることが指摘されている（山本他, 2001, p.72）。その一因として、実験に用いられる刺激の人工性や限定性が挙げられ、より日常的で自然な情報によって形成される表象についての研究の必要性が指摘されている。本課題では、潜在的意味解析（Latent Semantic Analysis: LSA）の手法を自由記述された文章に適用することで、他者に関する自由記述文から他者情報の構造の抽出を試みた。その結果、主要な性格認知（「個人的好ましさ」「外向性」「社会的望ましさ」）のそれぞれに特異的な動作・行為表現を抽出することができた。これは、特定の性格とそれに関連する動作や行為が関連付けられて記憶に保持されていることを示すと考えられる（行動―特性クラスター）。さらに、抽出された動作・行為表現と性格特性の意味的な結びつきの程度を実験心理学的な手法で調べたところ、両者の間の結びつきの程度には非対称性があることがわかった（Induction-deduction asymmetry）。以上の結果は、近年の発展が著しい自然言語処理技術が、より日常的で自然な情報から人物表象を抽出するために有益であることを示している。この結果はPsyArxivに公表（https://doi.org/10.31234/osf.io/efczy）。現在、投稿中。山本眞理子・外山みどり・池上知子・遠藤由美・北村英哉・宮本聡介（2001）『社会的認知ハンドブック』北大路書房

The information (knowledge and memory) of the cognitive and impression formation of others is symbolized and institutionalized (character image).
