项目摘要

当該年度では、前年度の研究で見出された「知識適用における既知性効果」について、その一般性と生起機序に関する研究を中心に行った。「知識適用における既知性効果」とは、新たに学習した知識を適用するか否かの判断において、適用可能なカテゴリーに所属していることが既知であった事例と未知であった事例では異なり、後者に対して知識適用を抑制する傾向のことである。まず「既知性効果」の一般性を確認するため、先行研究とは異なったカテゴリー（動物）に関するルールの学習においても既知性効果が再現されるか検討した。さらに、その生起機序に関する情報を得るため、ルールの特性について豊富な既有知識を持ちうる特性（有意味特性）と既有知識が乏しいと考えられる特性（無意味特性）の２種類を設定し、それらのルールの適用状況を比較した。その結果、有意味特性に関するルール（動物は消化器を持っている）では既知性効果が再現されたものの、無意味特性に関するルール（動物の細胞には中心体がある）では既知性効果は見られなかった。以上の結果は、特性に関する学習者の既有知識が「既知性効果」の生起機序に影響していることを示唆するものである。すなわち、有意味特性に関するルールを未知事例に適用しようとする場合、未知事例のカテゴリー所属に関する知識と有意味特性に関する知識を同時に見直す必要があり、このような心理的負担がルール適用を困難にするものと考えられる。さらに、別のカテゴリー（種子植物）に関するルールの学習において同様の検討を行ったが、ここでは有意味・無意味いずれの特性に関するルールでも「既知性効果」が認められた。以上の結果を総合すると、「既知性効果」の生起機序には、既有知識依存型と既有知識独立型の２種類があることが推定される。
