パーソン・センタード・セラピーによる固有のクライエントの変化を測定するために2021年度に作成したセラピストの態度スケール質問紙を用いて、ウエブなどで募った臨床心理士や公認心理師に調査を実施した。そのうち、態度得点の最も高かった10名に対して、クライエントがどのように変化したかを問うインタビュー調査を行った。その音声データを逐語録に変換し、中田・上西・斧原の3名で質的研究M-GTAにより、その変化をまとめている最中である。パーソン・センタード・セラピストの態度スケールで最も得点の高かった10名は全員がパーソン・センタード・セラピーをやっている訳ではなかった。例えば、かなり指示的にクライエントを誘導しているセラピストもいる一方で、ひたすら傾聴しているセラピストもいる。その意味ではパーソン・センタード・セラピストの態度を保持することは、必ずしもパーソン・センタード・セラピーをやっているという訳ではないことを示しているとも言えるし、そもそもパーソン・センタード・セラピーとは何か？　という定義を改めて確立する必要性も示している。ともあれ、今回選出された10名は、パーソン・センタード・セラピストの高度に保持している人、ということになる。分析途中の現在での見通しとしては、多くのインタビュー協力者の回答は、クライエントがカウンセリングのセッション中にどう変化したか、そのプロセスを描写したものである。その回答は、従来のパーソン・センタード・セラピーの理論にはない新しい知見も含まれているようである。セッション外での変化についての描写は少ない。この点についてはクライエント側に対するインタビューによってもう少し明らかになると考えられるので、この結果をまとめた後、クライエントに対するインタビュー調査を行う方が良いだろうと考えられる。
