本年度は、コロナ禍による渡航制限が緩和に向かったため、予定していた海外での史料調査及び現地調査を再開する準備期間となった。国内においては同様理由により大学図書館での閲覧停止が多く、非常に制限の多い状態であった。そのような状況下でも、閲覧可能な国内文書館での調査、またオンラインでの海外サイトを含めた史料調査は実施することができた。国内においては、国立公文書館等において、開港期の史料、またフレンチ・トラス（フランス式小屋組）を用いたと思われる国内建造物の修理報告書等を閲覧した。海外では、フランス国立図書館のオンラインサイトGallica等において史料調査を行った。これにより、19世紀から20世紀初頭にかけてのRevue du Genie millitaire等のフランス工兵隊出版物の読解・解析を行い、兵舎建築の図面、設計意図などに関して明らかにすることができた。以上は昨年度からの継続となる。海外研究者との学術交流は再開し、国際学会・研究会参加の機会等を利用して、学術知識の交流に努めた。ベトナム・ハノイにて植民地建築研究者エマニュエル・セリース氏、ホーチミン市・フランス極東学院のフィリップ・ル・フェイリエー氏らと研究協議を行った。また、ベトナム国立第１文書館、第２文書館を訪問した。以上の成果として、東京理科大学にて開催された「アジアの初期鉄筋コンクリート建築・その遺産価値と保存」シンポジウムにて、「Colonial Architecture-An Experimental Field for Novel Technology?」と題した学術講演を行った。
