项目摘要

2021度から継続して近世の名所図会を対象に茅葺の建物が風景の構成要素として描かれているのかを把握した。日本風俗名所図会（鈴木棠三編（1983-1938）『日本名所風俗図会』,角川書店）に掲載されている風景を描いた図会を対象とし、それぞれの絵については描かれかた（近景、鳥瞰）と茅葺建物の有無、茅葺建物については数、屋根形態、用途などのデータベースの作成を完了した。対象とした36の名所図会に描かれた建物のうち29,584棟の建物が茅葺建物だった。そのうち入母屋が最も多く18,982棟（81.2％）で、寄棟が3,984棟（17.0％）、切妻が410棟（1.8％）ある。入母屋がすべての地方に見られるのに対して、寄棟が関東地方に多くあったことがわかった。茶店、工房などの商業施設が6,783棟（57.6％)で最も多く、ついで神社、寺などの宗教施設が2,592棟（22.0％）で、農家、漁家などの民家・集落が2,406棟（20.4％）だった。さらに、用途によって、茅葺屋根の描き方や軒先の状況が異なることが確認できた。例えば、寺社の場合はまっすぐな点線で茅を表現し、軒先は切り揃えられ立派な庇がついていることが多いのに対し、民家の場合は棟から軒先までゆるやかな点線で茅を表現し、軒先の茅を揃えていないものが多い。用途によって茅の葺き方に違いがあったと考えられる。これらの結果は日本建築学会大会で発表した。修理工事報告書について、2022年度はサンプルとして合掌造り家屋のみについて実施した。合掌造り家屋のうち重要文化財に指定されているのは８棟（うち２棟は移築保存）ある。そのうち修理工事報告書があるものが7棟だった。茅の産地に言及しているものが5棟、そのうち1棟が地域外の茅を使用している記載があった。
