2022年度は、有害事象の症状と日内変動、食事の官能評価、嗜好と摂取量の変化、個人特性に関する記述を認知機能低下のリスク指標のアセスメント項目として抽出し、質問項目の類似性に沿って構成概念を命名する計画であったが、Covid19の影響で調査に大幅な遅れが生じている。一方で、このような現況のなかでも、次の示唆が得られた。20Gyの味覚変化の単独症状による「出汁の旨味が感じられない」「口溶けのよい食感と甘味が感じられない」「出汁の旨味が感じられない」など7項目から構成される【味覚の異常とおいしさの喪失】という官能評価、30-50Gyの味覚変化、口腔粘膜炎および口腔内乾燥の複合症状による「食べ物を口に入れるとしみて旨味の微妙な味付け加減がわからない」「口が渇いて塩味、甘味、酸味といった単純な味付け加減がわからない」「口が粘つき想像した味と違う味がする」など11項目から構成される【口腔内の痛みと潤い喪失による基本味の喪失】という官能評価、また50Gyの口腔粘膜炎と味覚変化の複合症状によるといった官能評価をもつ高齢期患者、治療前の嗜好が30Gy以降に変化し摂取量も低下する70歳以上の女性患者に時間・場所の見当識障がいや短期記憶力などの低下が認められる傾向がある。今度は、どのような味覚変化が認知機能の低下と関連するのか、食感・味付け・匂い・食形態・温度のどのような組合わせの食事に対する官能評価の低下が認知機能の低下とその日内変動と因果関係を認めるのかについて調査を進める。
