2022年度は、2021年度の成果をふまえ、放射線療法を受ける高齢期口腔癌患者における認知機能の低下の具体的状況、有害事象、個人特性(年齢、性別、義歯装着の有無、喫煙歴の有無、教育年数)といった項目間の関係性を因果モデルとして構築している。Covidの感染状況によりデータ収集に遅れが出ている一方で次の成果が認められた。高齢期口腔癌患者の会話上の意思疎通性について、「表記できない発音」「発音しようとする音が別の音に置き換わる」「発語のアクセントの変調」「発音使用とすることばを繰り返す」「口唇の動きの低下」など12項目が認知機能低下と因果関係がある。会話正確性について、「短文で正確性を担保する」「会話時間の短縮で正確性を担保する」「通常使用しない意味合いの言葉を使用する」「会話の意味内容のズレが多くなる」「しぐさとジェスチャーで正確性を担保することが少ない」など9項目が認知機能低下と因果関係がある。会話流暢性について、「一定の会話スピードで流暢性が保てない」「抑揚の乱れで流暢性が保てない」「つっかえつっかえで会話が進む」「意味内容の修正で会話時間の延長を認める」など7項目が認知機能低下と因果関係がある。認知機能低下と関係する意思疎通性、会話正確性、会話流暢性は、有害事象の具体的症状である[口の渇く感覚がある][唾液が泡沫状である][口の中が乾燥して口臭が気になる][口の粘つく感覚がある][口のカビつく感覚がある][口の中がひび割れる感覚がある][舌や粘膜が熱っぽい感覚がある][舌や粘膜がぴりぴりする感覚がある][食べ物を口に入れるとしみる感覚がある][常に舌や粘膜が疼くように痛む感覚がある][痛みにより無気力になる感覚がある][わずかな刺激で出血する]の12症状を複合的に組み合わさり、また【朝】に症状の増強を認める場合に認知機能の低下に影響する可能性が推測できた。
