本研究は、グローバル市場への包摂が急速にすすむ南アジア系社会おいて、仏教やヒンドゥー教、イスラム教など、宗教や民族、及びカーストに強く規定され ると見なされがちであった食肉をめぐる価値規範を比較民族誌論的に再考するものである。本研究は、大きく3点の目的を持つ。第一にこれまで日本語にて公表してきた成果の英語発信、第二に民族誌的記録と歴史的文書の接合、第三にイギリスにおけるネパール人移民コミュニティにおける食文化調査である。期間中の成果として、国際学会に口頭発表するとともに、和文にて国内学術誌に１本の論文を投稿し掲載予定である。これらをもとに、グローバル市場の浸透を受け、カーストに基づき屠畜を担っていた人々が職業として食 肉加工を再定位している様相を明らかにした。具体的な成果としては、下記の通りである。第一の目的に関して、博士論文の英文単著化にむけ翻訳やリライト作業を進めている。また、単著の一部を国際会議 Himalayan Studies Conference 2022 Torontoにて口頭発表を行い、成果の公表と意見交換を行った。これをもとに、国際誌に英文で論文を投稿する準備を進めている。第二の目的に関して、学術雑誌『文化人類学』に論文を投稿し、掲載予定である。第三の目的に関して、イギリスのネパール人コミュニティが実施するオンラインイベントやミーティングに参加した。上記ト ピックに関してはオンラインで形成したネットワークを生かして、今後別の機会に実施することとしたい。
