①環太平洋地域のアジア系集団および1960年代以前の日本人集団の生体計測データを基に重回帰分析を実施し、新たな体量推定式を作成した。また近代の個体データを用いてその精度を検証した。環太平洋地域のアジア系集団に関しては、ケッペンの気候区分によってBMIに相違があることから、気候区別に推定式を作成した。日本人集団については、1960年代以降にBMIが激しく変動するため、極力それ以前のデータによって推定式を作成した。北海道・本土・南西諸島の間ではかつてBMIに差があったため、本土と南西諸島で個別に推定式を設定した。明治時代の日本人男性個体の生体計測データで検証した結果では、どの推定式も平均±3kg未満の誤差で体量推定が可能であった。②上記の生体計測に基づいた各種推定式を、関東・畿内の近代日本人の骨格データに皮膚の厚みを加えて適用することで生前の標準的な体量を復元し、これらの結果の平均値をその個体の体量と見なして頭蓋や四肢骨の計測データから重回帰分析を実施した。それに基づいて、部位別に1960年代以前の日本人の体量を推定する式を新規に作成した。この措置によって、部分的な遺存状態である骨格資料についても、より誤差が小さく日本人の実態に近い体量推定が可能となる。後日、発表予定である。③過去の研究で取得した縄文時代人骨の計測データの他に、報告書や論文等の文献で既に報告されているデータを現状で可能な限り収集した。まず、電子ファイル化されている文献はネットワーク検索によってダウンロードし、電子化されていない文献については、全国の研究機関の図書館との相互取り寄せサービスを弾力的に活用し、複写による収集を行った。東京都や千葉県の報告例については、地元の公立図書館を訪れ集中的に文献調査を実施した。把握している限りで、本研究に適用可能な古人骨資料の文献データの90％以上を集めることができた。
