う事実から、心機能回復に至る薬品や細胞治療は未だに確立されておらず、今後も臨床現場に上がると期待されるものは数少ない。そこで我々は心筋梗塞後心不全の治療法として、多能性があり腫瘍化しないMuse細胞に着目した。まずは基礎実験としてウサギより骨髄を採取し、多能性を示すSSEA3陽性のMuse細胞を分離、培養し、同じウサギの心筋梗塞後に経静脈的に(自家、Autograft)細胞移植した。これらのモデルでMuse細胞の心筋組織への生着、分化と、その心機能改善を確認した。我々は今後臨床での心筋梗塞後の心筋再生療法を推進する上で、より大型動物のブタを用いて移植されたヒトMuse細胞がその免疫寛容性や心筋への分化、組織再生に寄与するかどうかを実証するべきと考えた。実際にブタ心筋梗塞モデルを作成し、ヒト骨髄由来Muse細胞移植を行い、2週間後の心機能回復を心臓超音波検査、組織検査にて確認する。
