本研究の目的は、高齢大腸がんサバイバーを対象に、排便機能障害の緩和を目指した食事と運動による複合介入プログラムを試作・開発し、その実行可能性、安全性、予備的な有効性を検証することであった。2022年度は、前年度の質的調査の結果から、食習慣、排泄習慣、運動習慣に関する質問票セットを作成した。具体的な質問項目は、手術前後の排泄習慣、運動習慣の変化、Global Physical Activity Questionnaire 日本語版、The European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer（EORT）-29、EORTQLQ-30を用いたQoLに関する内容である。また、身体活動については、客観的に身体活動量を計測するツールである活動量計（Active style Pro HJA-750C、オムロンヘルスケア社製）を用いて、連続7日間、起床から就床まで腰部に装着を依頼し、身体活動強度別の時間、歩数を調査している。2023年現時点までに、医療機関の外来に通院する大腸がんサバイバー50例（平均年齢69.2歳）を対象に有害事象を生じることなく、安全に調査を行っている。データ収集については、対象者には、いつでも研究を中断、中止できることを伝えて倫理的配慮を十分に行い、データ管理は対象者を個人識別符号で管理し、研究者は対象者を特定できないように厳重に管理している。これらの調査結果から、複合介入プログラムを試作している。
