乳幼児期のアトピー性皮膚炎や食物アレルギーといったアレルギー疾患のケアは，家族の負担感を増大させうる。一方で、家族には家族の病気といった問題にぶつかった時に，それを乗り越えるための力として家族のエンパワメントがあり，家族エンパワメントを促進する支援が重要であると指摘されている。本研究は，アトピー性皮膚炎，食物アレルギーを持つ乳幼児の主たる養育者である母親を対象として，1）家族エンパワメントを促進・阻害する要因を明らかにすること，2）乳幼児期それぞれの家族エンパワメントの特徴を明らかにすること，3）家族エンパワメントと母親・家族のQOL、母親の育児ストレス・育児不安との関連について明らかにすることである。家族エンパワメントに関連した文献検索（医中誌WEB，会議録除く）を行ったところ，14件が検索され，調査対象内訳としては，心身障害児・重症心身障害児の親（7件），成人～高齢期の自閉症，摂食障害，アルコール性肝硬変患者の家族（4件），発達障害児の親（3件），幼児期の親（1件）であった。家族エンパワメントの尺度開発に関しては1件で，佐藤ら（2020）は，幼児を持つ親のエンパワメントとして，「家族との関係性」，「育児の効力感」，「地域とのつながり」，「親役割達成感」，「サービスの認知と活用」からなり，構成概念妥当性，内的整合性が確認された。家族エンパワメントの関連要因としては，野口ら（2020）が，障害をもつ子どもの母親を対象にアンケート調査を実施し，エンパワメントの高さは，診断からの時期の長さ，子どもの性別，医療職への相談の有無に関連していることを明らかにした。乳幼児のアトピー性皮膚炎の家族の負担に関する文献は3件あり，宮城（2006）は家族の不安の特徴として「疾患に関連した不安」，「育児負担に関連した不安」，「スキンケアに関連した不安」があると述べている。
