项目摘要

本研究期間最終年度の2022年度も、21年度から引き続き、新型コロナウイルス感染拡大の影響で現地である米国への渡航はなおも不可能に近い状態であり、本研究の中心的作業のワシントンD Cでの現地調査は実施できなかった。2023年度はコロナ禍もほぼ終息に向かい、現地聞き取り調査を実施できる見通しとなったため、研究期間の23年度までの1年延長を学振に願い出をし、23年3月中旬に了承の回答をいただいた。それを受けて、23年8～9月に聞き取り調査を計画し、インタビュー対象者の募集と選定、インタビュー実施場所の手配、インタビュー対象者の面接日程の調整、調査当日のインタビュー対象者の送迎手段の検討などに関する準備作業を、現地協力者とのメールのやり取りを通じて、開始した。2022年度はいずれ可能となると思われる現地調査に向けて、本研究の問題意識に関連する先行研究を見直した。1960年代～70年代の先駆的女性移民に関してわずかながら存在する歴史研究・文化人類学研究による成果、そして1990年代以降にワシントンDCに見られたジェントリフィケーションとその影響に関する論文類を再読し、インタビューでの質問の中身を検討した。特に、23年度は本研究の最終年度であり、今夏実施のインタビューが最初で最後のものとなるゆえに、そして2回分の調査が今回だけに凝縮されることになるため、質問内容もかなり端的で要を得たものに絞っていけるよう、作業を進めている。このほか、22年度には取り立てて、研究業績と呼べるべきものは発刊できないまま終わった。
