项目摘要

本研究では2008年に世界文化遺産に登録されたマレーシアの２都市を対象に、観光と地域社会が持続的に共存しうる方策を探求する。世界遺産への登録前から現在に至る、観光需要の変動と建造物や土地利用等の経年変化を分析しつつ地域への影響を考察する。ここでは最繁忙期の状況のみならず、閑散期との需要の不均衡にも注目する。これらの分析を通じて同国を含む成長の著しい近隣アジア諸国の歴史都市にみられるオーバーツーリズム現象のモニタリング手法の構築を探求するとともに、これの緩解に寄与できればと考えている。2022年度は、新型コロナウイルスの蔓延により、日本・マレーシア両国の出入国規制の強化や、勤務先の海外渡航禁止などもあり現地調査が実施できなかった。また国内での文献調査なども出張の自粛指示により制限している。この条件下で、入手できた文献や統計資料を用いて考察を進めた。５年間の研究期間で実施予定であった文献調査を前倒しして実施し、同国の社会開発の動向と観光政策の推移を把握できた。また観光関連統計を用いて、マレーシア居住者による国内旅行観光客の動向分析を実施できた。主な項目は、これまでに現地で得た社会事情とともに観光関連統計を用いて①州ごとにみた訪問先の動向、②各州の所得水準の変化と旅行需要の推移などについて分析を行うことができた。併せて、現地への渡航と調査が可能になった時に備えて、現地や日本国内の専門機関や専門家と連絡を取り情報の交換を行っている。とりわけマレーシアからのアウトバウンド旅行の動向を分析した。これにより2023年度に予定している学会発表（国内および海外）に向けた素稿を完成させることができた。
