本研究は，企業内テザイン組織の展開過程について，文書史料を基礎資料として1960年代から1980年代にデザイン活動を行っていた先達デザイナーに口述採録を実施し，その検証を通して20世紀後半日本におけるデザインの役割の推移を明らかにしていくものである。調査課題として，1. 組織形成ならびに発達の過程， 2. デザイン活動目的の設定と作業対象の拡張と変遷，3. 展開過程におけるグローバルな交換を設定した。2022年度は前年度に引き続き文書資料を対象とした調査を進めた。自動車デザインに関して先達デザイナーに口述再録調査を実施した。自動車デザインについては1960年代から1970年代のデザイン活動，デザイン組織，デザイン開発体制，社会背景について確認と分析を行なった。対象時期の自動車産業において，国内では大衆車の普及，輸出振興として海外市場に認められる乗用車開発が進み，それに伴いデザイン開発への要求が高まり，イタリアのデザインスタジオとの協業，米国のデザイン教育機関との連携を行うなど，当時のデザイン開発体制の進展について確認を行なった。また，石油危機ならびに排気ガスなど環境課題の顕在化，モータリゼーションによる交通事情の悪化が生じた状況で，自動車の未来像を示すショーカーにおいて，スポーティなスタイリング，先端技術を用いたビジョンの提案，コミューターとしてのモビリティ提案が行われており、それらのデザイン開発の姿勢について口述資料を得た。
