项目摘要

本研究の目的は、国民国家形成に関して図書館がどのような役割を果たしたのか解明することにある。図書館がどのような役割を政府により担わされ、そして実際に機能したのか考察する。具体的には、①明治期の内務省主導の地方改良運動による図書館推進策とその実態、②アジア太平洋戦争下における文部省の国民読書運動の推進と実態、の2点に着目して解明する。令和4年度は新型コロナウイルス感染症も若干下火になってきたことから遅れている計画を遂行すべく、積極的に地方に史料収集に向かった。具体的に史料収集を行った図書館としては、石川県立図書館、山形県立図書館であり、県立長野図書館においては過去に収集した戦前に発刊されていた館報『読書信州』（『県立長野図書館報』、『長野県中央図書館報』、『信州の図書館』改題）の整理を行った。石川県立図書館では、戦前に発刊していた図書館報をすべてコピーし、山形県立図書館でも戦前に刊行されていた図書館報をすべてコピーし、さらに大正・昭和戦前期に毎日記録されていた内部記録『図書館日誌』を複写することができた。特に『図書館日誌』は筆者によって新しく発掘された史料であり、これを分析することによって、戦前の「行啓記念山形県立図書館」が行っていた活動が具に分かるものと期待される。令和4年度は調査が叶わなかった図書館もあるため、最終年度である令和5年度に調査を行いたい。さらに民力涵養運動について調査を行い、学会報告を1本行った。研究成果も順次論文化を行い、令和4年度は3本を発表した。

The purpose of this study is to understand the relationship between the formation of the national state and the development of the national economy. The library has been working for the government for a long time, and its functions have been investigated. Specifically,(1) the situation of the library promotion policy during the local improvement movement led by the Ministry of Internal Affairs during the Meiji period,(2) the situation of the promotion of the national book movement in the Ministry of Education during the Pacific War, and (3) the explanation of the two points. In 2004, a new type of infection was reported, and the project was carried out actively. The specific historical records were collected by the Ishikawa Prefectural Library, the Yamagata Prefectural Library, and the Nagano Prefectural Library.
