项目摘要

本研究では、近世および近代の掛軸表具の形式に関する記録資料を対象に調査研究を行い、文化財の修復現場で活用することを目的とする。掛軸表具の文人様式には、真行草等の格がなく、また同様式内の袋・明朝・筋割等の各形式の使用基準が明確でない。そこで、掛軸表具の文人様式成立過程の背景にある、日本の文人画および煎茶文化、ならびに表具に関連する文献調査をとおして、文人画に用いる表具形式の選定の基準について考察を行う。本年度は、以下の通りに研究を遂行した。１.文献調査明治時代以降に発行された日本の表具技法書、および美術雑誌に掲載された文人様式の掛軸表具に関する記述、ならびに中国の表具技法書の解読を行った。いずれの書籍においても、部材名称と制作技術は記載されていたが、形式の区別や判断基準に関する明確な記述を確認することはできなかった。他方で、明治期の『京都美術協会雑誌』において文人画家の富岡鉄斎が『思陵書画記』に沿って中国の掛軸表具を紹介する記事、また昭和期の『芸天』において表具師の根岸鐵太郎氏による明治18年頃の文人物の流行を回想する記事を確認した。近現代の文人様式の掛軸の変遷に関係する記録として重要と考える。2．作品調査：文人画に関する展覧会会場での表具様式の記録を行った。そのなかで「諸天菩薩図」（興福寺所蔵）は、1種類の裂を用いる袋表具で仕立てられており、裂には年紀が記されている。簡素な仕立てであり、現代の一般的な仏表具とは大きく異なる。文人画ではないが、当時の掛軸表具の姿を伝える可能性のある貴重な作例と考える。
