项目摘要

今年度も日本の国会討論を取り上げ、やじとその応対を含むやりとりを中心にイン／ポライトネスの観点から分析を行った。Spencer-Oatey(2005, 2008)のrapport managementの枠組みにもとづくと、相互行為はフェイス、社交性の権利、相互行為の目標の3つの観点から分析することが可能である。その枠組みを援用すると、国会におけるやじは、やじを飛ばした議員が自身の相互行為上の目標のために、やじの受け手のフェイスを侵害するとともに、社交性の権利をも侵害する行為であるということができる。国会においてやじは「議会の華」といわれることもあるように、こうしたフェイスへの侵害や社交性の権利の侵害は慣習的に許容されることもある。従って、やじという行為の適切性は、相互行為を通して常に交渉されることになる。分析の結果、やじられた委員・議員がやじの不適正性を主張する方策として、無視する、抗議する、沈黙するなどが確認できた。特に興味深いのは沈黙するという方策である。沈黙には、沈黙させられる場合と特定の目的のためにあえて沈黙する場合がある。前者の例としては、国会討論という相互行為の規範に不慣れな者がやじに対していかに応対するべきかわからず、沈黙させられてしまう場合が挙げられる。対して、後者の例としては話す権利かつ義務をあえて放棄し、抗議の意味であえて沈黙する場合が挙げられる。この沈黙の抗議は、話すことに重きを置き、話すことあるいは話を遮ること（やじること）を権力の行使とする既存の社会言語学・語用論・談話分析の研究の前提を覆すものである。来年度はこの沈黙が日本という言語文化圏に特有のものなのか、あるいは、本研究で対照を行うイギリスにおいてもみられるのかを明らかにしたい。
