项目摘要

本研究プロジェクトは、出張を基本的な研究方法としています。すなわち、英語を用いた刑事裁判が開廷される地方裁判所へ赴き、その裁判を傍聴し、データを収集する研究方法です。2022年度は、コロナ禍による規制が大いに緩和されたため、出張もしやすくなりました。したがって、横浜、那覇、さいたま、甲府、大阪の４地方裁判所において７件の要通訳刑事裁判（英語使用）を傍聴することができました。罪名や被告人（もしくは）証人の国籍や言語的背景は様々でしたが、傍聴の結果、本研究プロジェクトのテーマである法廷通訳人による「裁量的選択」を６２件収集することができました。当該年度で収集したデータは主に、敬語や人称代名詞などのような日英間の差異に焦点を当てたものが多く含まれています。収集したデータを元に、「正確な法廷通訳とは何か」という問いを立てて、その答えを探るため通訳人による通訳事例を分析しました。また、2022年度9月にイギリス・ベルファスト市（北アイルランド）で開催された「British Association of Applied Linguistics」の学会で、人称代名詞による法廷通訳課題について対面で発表しました。さらには、上記分析の結果、通訳人による日本語の敬語への対応を論文でまとめ、その論文が本学の論集に掲載されました。
