対話にだけ現れる終助詞は近世江戸語にも見えており、対話のなかで用いられている。近世江戸語には「イ」「エ（ヘ）」「カ」「サ」「ス」「ゼ」「ナ（命令・禁止の「ナ」は除外）」「ノ」「ワ（ハ）」「ヤ」「ヨ」「ネ」という13種類があるが、これらは、対話のなかで用いられる際に、それぞれ単独に用いられるだけでなく、お互いに結合して複合的に用いられるものがある（例、「ワナ」「カヨ」）。また、終助詞が複合的に用いられる際には一定の順序があることが明らかになっている。「カ、ワ、ゾ、ゼ」は一番前に位置するもの（A類）、「ヤ、ヨ、サ、イ、ナ」は前にも後ろにも位置するもの（B類）、一番後ろにだけ位置する「ノ、ネ、エ、ス」に分かれており、互いに複合的に使われる際には「AB」形、「AC」形、「BC」形に承接する。このように複合的に用いられている終助詞は承接順があり、一定の体系を持っているように見える。しかし、江戸語終助詞がなぜこのような承接順による体系は持っているかについては明らかにされていない。本研究の2022年度には、江戸語終助詞が複合的に用いられる際に、A・B・C類の終助詞が順番による承接する理由がそれぞれの終助詞が持つ固有の意味と関係があると思われ、それぞれの終助詞の固有（基本）の意味と終助詞の位置（以下、体系という）関係について明らかにすることを目的としている。そのためには、上記の13種類の終助詞が持つそれぞれの基本的な意味を明らかにする必要がある。しかし、13種類のうち、「カ、ヤ、イ、ノ、ス」5種類の終助詞は基本的な意味が明らかになっていない。そこで、この5種類の終助詞の意味分析から行った上に、終助詞の意味と体系について検討を進めた。
