本研究のテーマはインストラクショナルデザイン第2次サイクルによる教材開発である。この数年間COVID-19の影響で実践的な研究活動が制限されてきた。しかし、次第に状況は改善し、開発教材を完全対面の授業で部分的ながら導入試行できる状況になってきた。すなわち、目標としてきた大学の教室内インストラクションに重きを置く教材開発が可能となってきた。今回試行した教材は、COVID-19への対応で必要に迫られて開発したオンデマンド用教材の改訂版である。この間、学生が開発教材に取り組む様子を参与観察でき、本教材の特徴をより明確に把握できた。同時に、学生たちが学習をより円滑に進めるための改善点が明確になった。学生の動態を参与観察により確認できたことは研究を進める上で大きく役立った。対面授業での参与観察により改訂版教材の教授効果が確認できた。教授効果のポイントは、第１次サイクルの教材開発時に課題であった「授業における開発教材の有効性検証時における＜教員要素＞と＜教材要素＞の分離」から得た知見である。対面授業前にオンデマンド教材での有効性を検証したため「教材要素」を独立して検証することができた。これまでの試行を踏まえて、教材の有効性に関する分析と改訂を進めた。そして、学習者と教授者の両視点で教材の利便性と有効性を評価した。この評価には外国語教育の専門家にも加わっていただき、その評価は教材の改定第5版に反映させることができた。
