本研究は、外国語として英語を学ぶ大日本人大学生を対象に、英文読解時に形成される内語（inner voice）が読解時の意味処理に果たす役割を明確にすること、そしてそれらが個人差をどのように説明するかをLexical Quality（LQ：語彙表象の精緻さ）の側面から探ることを目的としている。また、LQ向上を目的とした発音・音声指導介入の有無が内語発達に及ぼす影響を調べることも研究目的である。視覚的に提示された情報処理を行う際に日本人英語学習者が経る読解処理のプロセスに関する知見と、読解を支える構成素に関する知見を蓄積することを目指している。本年度はコロナ禍により実施できなかった予備実験を実施し、本実験で使用する実験項目と発音・音声指導内容を決定し、実験の妥当性・実現性の確認をする予定であったものの、コロナ禍の影響による授業形態の変化に伴い、授業実践を通した実験を予備実験を含めて実施することは困難であったため断念した。そのため、文献調査を通して、発音・音声指導の内容の整理を行った。
