项目摘要

本研究の目的はマイクロファイナンスにおける貯蓄の効果に特化した研究を土台として、大きく2点に絞られる。1．どのような条件のもとであれば貯蓄が機能するのかを明らかにし、さらにその貯蓄を有効に活用して資本蓄積を加速させるにはどのような条件が必要であるのかを明確にすること。2.地域社会（コミュニティ）という括りで小規模金融を捉えた場合、それらが社会全体に与える外部性について明らかにすることである。研究計画は、途上国とアジアの貯蓄先進国である日本の農村部における、文献調査と古文書資料を中心とした調査研究の実施と大きく2点に分けて進めている。まず、途上国については調査対象国となるスリランカの農村部についてCovid-19禍において渡航することが叶わずいたが年度末にあたる3月に渡航、調査対象地を訪問し次年度に実施する予定の事前調査を行うことができた。アジアの貯蓄先進国（日本）については、兵庫県播州地方の農村部で江戸末期に私札を発行していた豪農についての調査を実施している。同農家は播州平野の中にあり、当地は経済活動の要所のひとつであった可能性も伺える。同家の整理を行う過程で新たに古文書、特に金融活動に関するものが多く発見された。その経緯で両替商として活動していたことも判明している。古文書について市の学芸員様のご協力を得て、データベース化が完了した。これらのことから最終年度を迎えるにあたり、十分な準備ができたと考える。
