Implementation of interfaces for the standardization of national database systems for alveolar echinococcosis and their transformation processes

As part of the ongoing DFG Project, a national database for alveolar echinococcosis has been successfully established in the funding program “Scientific Literature Supply and Information Systems” for “Information Infrastructures for Research Data” in Germany. The newly established and implemented structures for the national database for alveolar echinococcosis take the problem of reporting and data collection into account. The aim of a further application is to make the newly established and implemented structure compatible with regard to the ever increasing demands for a international orientation and connectivity to make it usable for interoperability. With regard to international research projects and the solution of highly explosive scientific questions, a harmonization of national database structures and systems of different countries is essential to maintain evidence-based clinical and epidemiological research activity at the highest level in the context of increasing digitization and low case numbers.
