项目摘要

COVID-19の蔓延により延長してきた社会調査を当該年度は実施し，1)大切な故人の死後をめぐる日本人の心象（二人称の死後世界観）を測定する尺度を作成・標準化するとともに，2)故人との関係や死別に関する要因とそれら死後世界観との関連を明らかにした。具体的には，1）について，死後世界観は以下のような5因子構造をもつことが確認された：①故人の人格や意識を残した魂が存在し，自分たち遺族の近くにいて見守り，支えてくれているという「魂との共生」因子，②故人は遠き良き場所にいるという「良き他界」因子，③故人はまた別の世に生まれ変わるという「生まれ変わり」因子，④故人は自然や宇宙，神，歴史などに融合していくという「大きな存在への統合」因子，そして，⑤故人は遺された者の記憶や，成し遂げた軌跡に生きるという「記憶・記憶」因子である。2）のうち属性との関連では，国内外の先行研究と同じく，性別および年齢の一貫した効果が確認された。すなわち，「魂との共生」「良き他界」「生まれ変わり」といった典型的な死後世界観では女性のほうが得点が高く，また高齢者の方が得点が低かった。さらに，故人に対する喪失感は一貫して死後世界観と正の関連を有していた。また，予想に反して，故人は心残りのない人生を送った，と認識する遺族ほど死後世界観も強いことが明らかになった。つまり，穏やかな死別を経験した多くの人にとって，死後世界とは，故人の不幸な現世の補償機能をもつというよりは，故人の幸福な現世の延長として存在することが示唆された。
