Towards a decolonised design in the Asia-pacific

Began collecting survey data from design students/scholars in Asia on sociocultural attitudes towards design. Recruitment will continue into 2023. Some participants may be followed up for more in-depth interviews. Building on previous work covering "non-Western" perspectives in design/aesthetics, work was done on the concept of machizukuri. Though this work was originally going to focus on architectural reconstruction in Okinawa, its focus shifted to its role in urban design/architecture in Japanese communities broadly. A paper was published on this topic in Contemporary Aesthetics journal. Also did further research on the concept of "decolonisation" itself. An early version of a paper on this topic was rejected for publication, but will be reworked for future submission.
