海外の公文書館などに所蔵されている江戸時代の外国船の航海日誌を調査し、18世紀末には探検航海するイギリスやフランスからの外国船が日本近海に現れ、19世紀に入るとアメリカ海軍の軍艦等が日本に開国を求めるために日本近海を航行した航海日誌を入手した。これら江戸時代の1770年代から1860年代に日本近海を航行した外国船の航海日誌に記載された位置や気象データをまとめ、論文を投稿し、改訂中である。また、江戸時代末期に外国船が日本近海で遭遇した台風(1853年7月、1856年9月、1864年8月)の3事例について、航海日誌に記載された気象データをもとに経路等の解析を行ない、投稿中の論文にまとめている。オランダの海軍資料に現れた気象観測記録のデジタイズと調査・研究をすすめ、オランダの関係機関（オランダ王立気象研究所KNMIおよびオランダ王立学術会議KNAW、国立公文書館NA)などとの協力関係を設定するための交渉を進めた。また3月にはこれらの機関との調整をさらにすすめ、2023年8月には共同のワークショップの開催を予定するところまで漕ぎつけている。1870年代の日本における台風事例について、当時の英字新聞記事の収集整理を進めるとともに、各事例における灯台気象観測記録の気圧・気温データの切り出し，補正等を行った。また、当該課題で利用している19世紀末の日本各地の灯台で実施された気象観測について、解説文（英文）を日本のデータレスキューに関する書籍の一部に寄稿した。

The Japanese Navy began to search for the logs of foreign ships in the Edo period, and to search for the logs of foreign ships in the Japanese offshore waters in the late 18th century. From the 1770s to the 1860s, the journal of foreign ships sailing offshore Japan recorded the position of the ship, the image of the ship, the paper submitted, and the revision of the ship. In the late Edo period, foreign ships encountered typhoons off the coast of Japan (July 1853, September 1856, August 1864). Three cases were recorded in the log book. The Navy's data collection, imaging, research, research, and collaboration with related organizations (the National Institute of Imaging, KNMI, and the National Academy of Sciences, KNAW, and the National Library, NA) March 2023: The opening of a joint venture. In the 1870s, the typhoon events in Japan were recorded, the collection of English news records at that time was compiled, and the pressure and temperature of the lampstand weather records were corrected. This topic is used in the late 19th century in Japan to implement the image survey, explanatory text (English) and Japanese literature related to a book submitted to the manuscript.
