本研究は、超高齢社会における「ことば」の問題について、高齢者が若年層、特に子どもたちとコミュニケーションを図る上で障害となる課題を発見し、その課題を解決することによって高齢者の「知的健康寿命」の維持を図るために何ができるかを探ろうとするものである。そのために本研究では高齢者と子どもの知的触れ合いの場=現代版桃源郷を構築することによってそれぞれのグループにどのような効果がもたらされるかを検証する。中心的視点はことばであり、研究分担者それぞれの専門性を十分に活かした桃源郷パラダイムの構築を行う。実際に高齢者と子どもたちが交流するイベントを開催し、イベントの中で両者がどのようなコミュニケーションを行うのかを観察し、そこに生じることばの問題を整理し、よりよくコミュニケーションを図るための問題解決を図るのが、本研究の調査計画の中心となる。2021年度まではコロナ禍のために、交流イベントを実施することが出来なかったが、2022年度は下記のイベントおよび聞き取り調査を実施することが出来た。１)2022年9月　品川区立大井第一小学校(校長 藤森克彦)コミュニティ・スクールにおいて、小学校6年生の4クラスの児童131名と同窓生のべ24名との交流イベントを実施し、会話場面を録画して分析を進めた。２）2022年9月　秋田県秋田市の介護施設「きらら」において、介護関係者の聞き取り調査を行った。３）2023年1月および２月　宮城県仙台市の「八木山市民センター」において、シニア大学の運営担当者（センター職員）4名、シニア大学の運営委員（高齢者の学生）10名に聞き取り調査を行った。４）2023年2月　秋田県大仙市の介護施設「リライエ大曲」において、入居者の聞き取り調査を行った。上記の調査結果を詳細に分析し、さらに追加の調査を実施すべく、研究期間を延長して、2023年度において成果をまとめる予定である。
