英文摘要
1)Archival search was conducted over the Asahi Shimbun newspaper articles published from 1879 to 1999. Using the Asahi Shimbun Kikuzo II visual, the articles with the keywords "plastic" were extracted. Out of these articles, an analysis was conducted on over 275 articles which referred to households and women. The findings were presented at the Annual Conference for the Association for Asian Studies in March 2022, and at the University of Sydney Department of Anthropology Seminar Series in April 2022.2) Fieldwork was conducted both online and in-person at Kamikatsu village. The result was analysed in relation to the government and regional plastic waste sorting policies, and it was presented at the Australian National University Japan Studies Seminar Series in 2021 and the Tokyo College Identity Seminar Series in 2020.3) Based on the start-up research enabled by this grant, a new international interdisciplinary research project was designed in collaboration with Singaporean researchers and it took off in February 2022. This collaborative research examines and compares the gender dynamics of household plastic waste in Singapore, Australia and Japan from 2022 to 2025.4) Based on the start-up research enabled by this grant, a new international interdisciplinary research project was designed in collaboration with Malaysian researchers and it took off in March 2022. This collaborative research examines the gendered impacts of foreign plastic waste among indigenous peoples in Selangor, Malaysia.
