2017年8月からのミャンマー政府による掃討作戦を契機として、ロヒンギャとよばれるイスラム教徒の少数民族が、隣国バングラデシュに難民として大量流入した。同国でもとりわけ貧しい地域への難民流入により、地域の社会経済と環境は大きな影響を受けた。しかしながら、難民と比較すると受入国住民に対しては、国際的な支援ならびに関心ともに低い現状である。本研究では、日本人経済学者とバングラデシュ人環境科学者が共同することで、難民流入による影響を包括的に定量評価する。具体的には、家計調査によりパネルデータを構築し、家計の社会経済面への影響を分析する。また、家計調査に実験室実験を組み込むことで、住民感情への影響の定量化を試みる。さらに、リモートセンシング・GISデータを組み合わせて、地域の環境面への影響を測定する。本研究から得られる知見は、難民流入により影響を受けた受入国住民への補償や、難民との融和のための政策立案に資することが期待される。2022年度は、2020-2021年度にかけて受入国住民1800家計（15家計×120村）を対象として実施した家計調査とラボ実験のデータの分析を行い、論文を執筆し、いくつかの学会・セミナーでの報告を行った。
